Skilled trades people seeking to obtain permanent residency in Canada may find eligibility through the Federal Skilled Trades category.
The evaluation will consider various factors including:

  • Age
  • Educational background
  • Professional experience (both Canadian and international)
  • Language proficiency (English and/or French) – Secured employment arrangements

Following this assessment, candidates will be ranked according to their points tally under the Comprehensive Ranking System. Those with the highest scores will receive invitations to apply for permanent residency.

Applicants remain within the Express Entry pool for a duration of 12 months, during which CIC periodically selects candidates for invitation. Successful candidates under the Skilled Trades category are entitled to Canadian permanent residency status, granting them and their dependents the freedom to reside and work anywhere in Canada.

However, individuals aspiring to settle in Quebec should explore the Quebec immigration program. For those who do not meet the criteria for permanent residency under the Skilled Trades category, alternative visa pathways may be available.
