Canadian Skilled Trade
- Accumulating a minimum of two years of work experience in a skilled trade within the five years preceding the submission of their permanent residency application.
- Securing an offer of full-time employment in a skilled trade for a duration of at least one year, OR possessing a Certificate of Qualification in a skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial body.
- Meeting the required proficiency level in either English or French language as per the prescribed standards.
Skilled trades people seeking to obtain permanent residency in Canada may find eligibility through the Federal Skilled Trades category.
The evaluation will consider various factors including:
- Age
- Educational background
- Professional experience (both Canadian and international)
- Language proficiency (English and/or French) – Secured employment arrangements
Following this assessment, candidates will be ranked according to their points tally under the Comprehensive Ranking System. Those with the highest scores will receive invitations to apply for permanent residency.
Applicants remain within the Express Entry pool for a duration of 12 months, during which CIC periodically selects candidates for invitation. Successful candidates under the Skilled Trades category are entitled to Canadian permanent residency status, granting them and their dependents the freedom to reside and work anywhere in Canada.
